Abbey, Ramparts & Millennium: A Day in the Time of Medieval Normandy

An inaugural day is dedicated to the restoration of the ramparts of the Saint-Nicolas Abbey of Verneuil d’Avre and Iton. Focused on the Middle Ages and Norman history, it highlights this heritage inherited from the ducal era, built under the reign of Henry I Beauclerc, son of William the Conqueror, and a witness to the strategic role of the city at the border between the Duchy of Normandy and the Kingdom of France.

Historical performances, guided tours, demonstrations, medieval activities, and a banquet mark this day dedicated to discovering the history and heritage of the abbey. The event celebrates the restoration of this iconic site while enhancing its historical heritage.
