Explore the history of Henry I’s Abbey in Reading

This guided walking tour explores the heart of Reading with official Reading Museum tour guides.

Starting in the Story of Reading Gallery at Reading Museum and continuing outdoors, the tour leads visitors on a journey through the history and heritage of the Abbey Quarter. It highlights key sites, including the Hospitium, where medieval pilgrims stay, and the impressive ruins of Reading Abbey.

The tour explores the links between Reading Abbey and Henry I, son of William the Conqueror, and presents the wider history of the area.
