From Medieval Women to Contemporary Work

Reverence is an artistic and cultural project . It brings together a collection of contemporary works created by artists, artisans, and medievalists, presented in several heritage sites in the region.

The project offers a renewed interpretation of this history by highlighting influential women, often absent from collective memory. A collaborative approach, conducted over more than two years, combines historical research and contemporary creation to bring forth varied portraits, revealing autonomous, active, and significant figures.

Based on these narratives, the artists develop a body of original works that incorporate jewelry, sculpture, cabinetry, and gilding. These sensitive and demanding forms translate a contemporary interpretation of historical trajectories and compose an ensemble that is both poetic and embodied.

- A Traveling Exhibition
From March to October 2027, the exhibition will tour Normandy and, at each stop, offer a selection of works inspired by the journeys of these women, from their birth to their destinies.
- An Associated Program
A series of encounters accompany the journey: conferences, visits, and round tables bring together artists, artisans, and academics to discuss the links between creation, history, and transmission. These moments of exchange particularly address the fabrication of the works, the role of women in history, and the sensitive experience of art.
- Offering a Different Perspective
The project also develops a sensory approach, engaging touch and listening to make the works accessible to a wider audience and offer an inclusive experience, paying particular attention to visual impairment.
