The Normandy–Roskilde Viking Heritage Partnership

The cooperation between Normandy and the Roskilde Viking Ship Museum represents a major step in strengthening cultural ties between the two territories. 

As part of this partnership, the Roskilde Viking Ship Museum will participate in the international gathering of Viking ships to be held in Normandy in summer 2027, following a proposed route from Caen along the Côte Fleurie and the Seine Estuary to Rouen during Armada 2027. A study for the transport of the Viking vessel Skjoldungen has been completed, drawing on the expertise and technical know-how of the Roskilde museum. 

This maritime collaboration is complemented by a broader cultural partnership : a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between the Roskilde Viking Ship Museum and the Bayeux Tapestry Museum, further enhancing exchanges around Viking heritage, medieval history, and shared European cultural narratives.
