The Story Sharpeners - The Saga of Norna

As part of the "Curieux Printemps" festival

At the storytellers’ sharpening shop, stories are shared while they are sharpened. Just like knives, stories lose their edge as they age. They need to be given a second life! For this new creation, an old saga has been placed on the workbench: it features spectacle, humor, 3 witches from the depths of time, a badass heroine, vikings, an axe, and a big bad guy just like in all good stories...

The story sharpener revolves around the Saga of Nornagest. A text with various sources, the main one being embedded in the Saga of Olaf Tryggvason, composed around the year 1300 and referencing the Norwegian king Olaf Tryggvason (963-1000).

There are many clichés about vikings: fierce and invincible warriors, horned helmets as headgear, barbarians, leather and furs as their only clothing, etc. The show will be an opportunity to dust off some preconceptions about Scandinavians.
