Normandy as an evidence

For three days, a site in the center of La Manche becomes an immersive stage, an experience, where a true journey through time is organized.

The journey is based on a simple and powerful idea: to bring to life the transition between two eras, 1935 and 1035, through two distinct areas connected by transition chambers.

The re-enactment begins in 1935, in a summer village preparing for the celebrations of the 900th anniversary of William's rise. Between daily life, societal changes, and an uncertain international context, a community mobilizes, torn between contemporary concerns and a desire to remember.
This first anchoring naturally leads to a shift to 1035. The visitor then finds themselves at the heart of a foundational moment in Norman history: William's ascension to power, in a fragile context where alliances and loyalties play a determining role.

The project thus articulates two complementary temporalities: that of a village that remembers and that of the events that gave rise to this memory.

By directly linking 1035 and 1935, it offers a vivid and accessible reading of history, based on immersion, transmission, and emotion, in an approach that is both cultural, heritage-focused, and deeply rooted in Normandy.

This proposal, both memorial, cultural, and historical, has several stakes:
• To show and understand the daily lives of ancestors in 1035 and 1935, while paying tribute to those who lived through these times by bringing them back to life;
• To contribute to the conservation and transmission of this memory through a lively and embodied historical re-enactment;
• To mobilize the local inhabitants around a unifying project and create a memorial cultural event;
• To propose quality catering that values Norman products and short circuits in a sustainable approach.
