During the spring holidays, Château Guillaume le Conquérant offers an immersion into the travels of medieval Europe and the East. A program blending exhibition, cultural mediation, and family activities highlights the movements, exchanges, and circulation of knowledge in the Middle Ages. At the heart of the initiative, an exhibition by Philippe Fatus presents reproductions of illuminated manuscripts from the 11th to the 13th century. It explores the various forms of medieval mobility: conquests, pilgrimages, itinerancy of princely courts, and merchant exchanges. Thematic visits complement the whole and provide historical insights into these dynamics. A specific program, designed as part of the Étonnants Patrimoines, offers participatory workshops. Based on the imagined journey of a traveler connecting Italy to Constantinople, the activities address innovations from the East, the use of the compass, and monetary and commercial systems. A weekend features a historical reenactment company. Camp, demonstrations, and exchanges bring to life the cultural circulations and influences that traverse the Middle Ages, in a lively and immersive approach. Practical information: Open to all Paid (The pricing grid varies according to the proposed activities. See pricing conditions on the website) Exhibition translated into English
