Norman Legends

With "Tales of Twilight," a trio of artists — two actors and a musician — offers a literary ceremony dedicated to the legends, both well-known and more obscure, of Norman heritage. They thus bring to life a whole procession of characters and ghosts who come alive to share their stories.

Legendary tales play an essential role in the historical and identity building of a region because they are rooted in supposedly real events. Their protagonists are identified, and their geographical and historical placement closely ties them to local life. Although transformed and enriched through oral transmission, these stories retain their primary purpose: to be passed down and shared. They therefore contribute to forging an emotional bond with the territory.
Arising from a careful observation of the places they mention, legends give meaning to landscapes, whether natural or shaped by humans. They explain, in a rational or symbolic way, phenomena, reliefs, place names, or even the origin of certain sites. If not, they gradually fade away, leaving behind only names whose meanings are lost.

They also serve as valuable keys to understanding a territory, its forms, its light, its atmospheres. Even today, along roads and in the heart of cities, legends continue to be born and circulate. Contemporary tales, rumors, and urban legends extend this tradition and are part of a living transmission that is destined to endure.
