Two kings for the Crown
from 24 July 2027
to 26 July 2027
Who will you give England to?
In 1066, two claimants are contesting the crown of England: William the Conqueror and Harold Godwinson.
This performance offers a reenactment of this decisive moment in history in the form of a trial that is as serious… as it is unpredictable.
For 40 minutes, the audience comes to life: arguments clash, testimonies pile up, and the great figures of the time speak out. Matilda of Flanders, Odo of Bayeux, Edith of Wessex, and Edward the Confessor take turns illuminating — or complicating — the debate, in a dynamic staging full of twists and turns.
The setup involves the audience at the heart of the action: everyone becomes a juror and participates in the final decision, called upon to decide on the legitimacy of the two rivals.
Halfway between historical theater and quirky comedy, Two Kings for the Crown revisits the Anglo-Norman epic with humor, energy, and a touch of absurdity, while highlighting its emblematic characters and power struggles.
