University Choirs

from 04 April 2027

to 22 April 2027

A millennium of Anglo-Norman songs

The uni-pop choir of the University of Rouen Normandy (URN) and the union choir of Munster Technological University (MTU) in Cork, Ireland, are joining their voices to present a free concert open to all, featuring traditional French and English songs.

Through a repertoire specific to each of the two regions, songs about the Norman and Viking populations as well as territorial narratives will recount events that have shaped the sometimes shared history of Normandy and Ireland.

After a year of rehearsals, the two choirs will meet in April 2027 in Rouen for a joint performance.
The two universities see Millenium as the beginning of a shared story around amateur European artistic practices.

The project is all the more significant as both universities are part of the European Universities alliance INGENIUM, one of whose aims is to promote interculturality and multilingualism among all students and staff.
