11th Century Norman Village

A Norman village from the 11th century takes shape through a living re-enactment featuring craftsmen, peasants, and soldiers. Spread over eight weekends, the first of which marks the inauguration of the site, this event follows the early stages of constructing buildings, artisans' workshops, the farming area, and the historical re-enactment camp.

Carpenters, blacksmiths, and stonemasons showcase their skills, tools, and ancient techniques, alongside basket weavers, seamstresses, calligraphers, and farmers who bring the village to life. Norman breed animals — donkeys, sheep, goats, and poultry — complete the scene. This ensemble traces the gradual birth of Varendel, in the Domfront en Poiraie region.
