Venables, at the Origins of Feudal Normandy offers an immersive 3D portrayal of the motte castrale of Venables, as it might have appeared in the 11th century, accompanied by an interactive digital tour accessible via an application.

The project invites the public to discover a key site from the beginnings of feudal Normandy and to understand the fundamental role of these early earth and wood fortifications, the predecessors of medieval castles.
The tour takes the form of a circuit structured around seven points of interest, allowing for a gradual and independent exploration of the site. Supported by the most recent scientific research, the presentation highlights the strategic importance of Venables, at the heart of the rivalries between Frankish counts and Norman counts in the 11th century. The figures of Mauger de Venables and then Gilbert de Venables embody this pivotal period and help to better understand the formation and affirmation of Norman power.
