W1000 Battle Tree Warden Tree Planting project

from 01 January 2027

to 01 January 2028

1000 trees - 1 man

From 2024 to 2027, the historic town of Battle invites you to take part in an inspiring community initiative celebrating  Millenium - 2027, the Year of the Normans. Over these four years, the ambitious goal of the Tree Warden is to plant 1000 trees across the civil parish, creating a lasting natural legacy for future generations.

Throughout the project, a programme of friendly community planting events will be organised by the local Tree Warden, bringing together residents, visitors, and partners. Key contributors include local schools, English Heritage (Battle Abbey), and the National Trust, reflecting a strong spirit of collaboration rooted in heritage and environmental stewardship.

Each tree planted will be carefully labelled and digitally mapped, allowing visitors to explore this growing green network via an online resource and discover the stories behind each planting.

The project will culminate in 2027 with the symbolic planting of the 1000th tree, an event hoped to be marked by the presence of a member of the British Royal Family during an official visit, offering a memorable highlight to this unique celebration.

Come and experience Battle in a new light, where history, nature, and community come together to shape the landscape of tomorrow.
