Weaving of prints

from June 28 2027

to August 22 2027

Weaving Imprints is a textile, sound, and participatory installation that pays tribute to the women who shape Norman history, from yesterday to today. Conceived by Cécile Tauvel (Maison Lacmé), the work takes the form of a circular cocoon made up of 1,000 textile strips made from fabric scraps. Each strip is embroidered with the first name of a woman connected to Normandy — a historical figure, a relative, or a local personality — composing a collective feminine memory. In the center, a monumental weaving by Manon Auguste (Myriade Studio) honors Matilda of Flanders. This contemporary creation resonates with the textile skills inherited from the past. The installation includes nine sound stories dedicated to women from Normandy, broadcast at the heart of the cocoon and translated into English and Italian. The whole experience offers an immersive journey between history and transmission. The project builds on participatory workshops conducted in several Norman territories, involving residents of all ages in creation through embroidery, sewing, gilding, or writing. Each name, each voice, and each gesture forms a trace, weaving a dialogue between heritage and contemporary creation, between individual narratives and collective history. Designed as a traveling work, Weaving Imprints will circulate in Normandy from March to November 2027, creating a sensitive landscape dedicated to those who participate, often in the shadows, in writing the history of the territory.
