Artists in Residence

As part of Millenium 2027 – European Year of the Normans, Fossekleiva Art Centre, located in Berger, Norway, is hosting an international research and creative residency for two artists from Normandy, in partnership with RN13bis, the regional network bringing together artists, curators and contemporary art organisations across Normandy.

The residency will take place at the Fossekleiva Cultural Centre, situated in what was historically one of Norway’s most important textile production districts.
Over a five-week period, the artists will have the opportunity to develop a creative project in dialogue with the exceptional textile heritage of the Berger region. Their research may draw on the archives of the former Fossekleiva textile mill, preserved at the Berger Museum, which houses more than 3,000 textile patterns and design drawings, as well as on the area’s natural landscapes and industrial history.

Beyond the creative process itself, the residency serves as a valuable platform for international professional development. Participating artists will engage with key figures from Norway’s artistic and textile sectors, including Soft Gallery in Oslo, exhibition curators, the Air Green residency programme, and the Norwegian Textile Artists Association (NTK).

As a highlight of the project, the works developed during the residency will be presented as part of a textile art exhibition scheduled for summer 2027 at the Berger Museum.
