Exhibition Project - Weaving landscapes from Norway to Normandy
As the culminating event of the AIR Artists in Residence programme, the exhibition will present the works created by the participating artists during their five-week residency at Fossekleiva.
Held at the Berger Museum from 13 June to 8 August 2027, the exhibition forms part of the official programme of Millenium 2027 – The European Year of the Normans.
Drawing inspiration from Berger’s rich textile heritage, industrial history and surrounding landscapes, the artists will develop new works that engage with the museum’s unique collection of textile archives and explore contemporary perspectives on material culture, memory, craftsmanship and cultural exchange.
Through a variety of artistic approaches and media, the exhibition will offer visitors a unique insight into the creative processes and research undertaken during the residency.
The exhibition aims to foster a meaningful dialogue between Normandy and Norway, highlighting shared histories, cultural connections and contemporary artistic practices.
By bringing together artists, cultural professionals and audiences from both countries, the project will strengthen international collaboration and contribute to the development of new artistic networks across Europe.
Presented in a museum deeply connected to Norway’s textile history, the exhibition will also provide significant international visibility for the selected artists, offering a platform to engage with Norwegian and international audiences while contributing to the broader cultural ambitions of Millenium 2027.
