The village of Banzi revives one of the most significant moments in its history: the arrival of Pope Urban II, an event that deeply marked the community and its territory in 1089. On the occasion of the historical parade, the streets of the historic center come alive with ladies, knights, dignitaries, soldiers, and commoners, creating a great living fresco that returns to the public the charm and color of the Middle Ages. The reenactment, meticulously curated, features over a hundred participants in sumptuous period costumes, accompanied by musicians, drummers, and flag-wavers. Amidst the sounds of trumpets and the rolling of drums, the parade winds through the streets until it reaches the main square, where the solemn ceremony of papal welcome takes place. Among the nobles, with particular prominence, the Norman princes Roger and Bohemond, the sons of the famous Robert Guiscard, march, embodying the alliance between military power and spiritual authority with their presence. The event is not just a spectacle but also an act of collective memory: an occasion to rediscover the cultural identity of Banzi, the bond with its history, and the value of tradition. Lights, sounds, and narratives envelop the spectators in a suggestive atmosphere, transforming the village into an authentic medieval stage for one evening.
