Artists' residence in the castle of Sperlinga

Between 10 and 12 internationally recognized and experienced artists will be invited to participate in the artistic residency. Each artist will be called upon to create two original paintings or installations. The works produced will become part of the permanent collection of the Municipality of Sperlinga, contributing to the enhancement of the cultural heritage of the community.

The first phase of the residency will take place from August 23 to 31, 2027, with a second phase to be agreed upon with the artists. The residency will represent an important opportunity for interaction between contemporary creativity, territorial identity, and historical heritage. The artists will be hosted by the Municipality at local accommodation facilities and will have the opportunity to live and work closely with the cultural and landscape context of Sperlinga.

Throughout the event, the artists will set up their workspace inside the Castle of Sperlinga, transforming it into a dynamic and open creative laboratory. The public will thus be able to witness the various stages of the artistic process, fostering moments of dialogue, exchange, and participation with citizens and visitors.

The residency aims to promote not only the production of new works but also a research and immersion experience in the territory, stimulating original interpretations and a new perspective on the historical, cultural, and human heritage of Sperlinga.

On August 23, after the official inauguration of the event, a guided tour of the village and the Castle will be organized for the artists and anyone who wishes to participate. This initiative will allow for a deeper understanding of the history, traditions, and peculiarities of the area, offering further inspiration for the creative work that will develop during the residency.
