The sounds and flavours of Normandy in historic surroundings

Celebrate the shared heritage of the Channel Islands and Normandy at a special Fête Normande in the courtyard of the Folk and Costume Museum at Saumarez Park on Saturday 3 July 2027, from 11am to 6pm.

This lively summer gathering forms part of Guernsey’s celebrations for the 2027 Year of the Normans and promises a memorable day of music, food, craft and tradition in one of the Island’s most atmospheric heritage settings.

From 2pm to 5pm, visitors can enjoy performances by Lihou, a group of accomplished musicians based largely in Normandy and led by Yvon Davy of Association La Loure. Known for their historically informed interpretations, the musicians bring to life the rich musical traditions of the English Channel coast through evocative melodies, storytelling and song. Returning guest musician James Dumbelton will also help guide audiences through the origins and backstories of the music.

Throughout the day, the museum courtyard will be filled with artisan stalls, traditional crafts and demonstrations. Visitors can also enjoy the flavours of Normandy and the Channel Islands, including cider, apple juice and Norman-inspired dishes served from midday until 5pm. 

Set within the sheltered and heritage-rich surroundings of the Folk and Costume Museum, this welcoming event offers something for all ages. Join us for a vibrant celebration of music, history, food and friendship during our 2027 Year of the Normans Millennium celebrations.
