Le Cercle De Carteret – Family & Friends Gathering

Founded in 1999, Le Cercle De Carteret was created to reconnect the De Carteret family with its ancestral roots in Carteret, Normandy. Thanks to a dedicated genealogy database, family members across the Channel Islands and beyond, including the United States, have been able to trace their lineage and rebuild strong family connections.

The De Carteret family is historically linked to the Norman Conquest, with three brothers recorded among William the Conqueror’s knights in 1066. This shared heritage has inspired regular biannual reunions since 2000, when a commemorative plaque was placed at the Chapel of St Louis in Carteret.

As part of Millenium – 2027, the Year of the Normans, a special gathering will be held at the Vale Douzaine Room in Guernsey.

Starting at 2:00 pm, the afternoon will focus on informal meet-and-greet opportunities, allowing participants to reconnect and socialise in a relaxed setting. Food and drinks will be available throughout the event, alongside displays of family trees and genealogical research highlighting the history of the De Carteret lineage. Visitors will also be able to explore a collection of photographs and memorabilia from more than 20 years of reunions.
The event will continue into the evening with a buffet followed by music and entertainment, extending the celebrations in a convivial atmosphere.
