The Fox Open Art 

The Fox Open Art Competition Exhibition returns in 2027, presenting a selection of works chosen by a guest Norman artist as part of the celebrations for the European Year of the Normans. This annual competition highlights the creativity of artists connected to the Channel Islands and beyond.

Celebrating its 45th edition, the competition has showcased renowned artists such as Kay Ara, Jason Butler, Billie Newey, and Ian Rolls, reflecting the richness and diversity of contemporary artistic expression in the region.

The programme traditionally opens with the Fox Judge’s Exhibition, featuring works by the invited judge of the year. Previous judges have included distinguished artists such as Sir Terry Frost, Jason Martin, Jane Human, Flora McLachlan, and Maxwell Doig.

This is followed by the Fox Open Art Exhibition, displaying the selected competition entries and offering a unique perspective on current artistic practices.

As part of the Year of the Normans 2027, this edition highlights artistic dialogue connected to the shared cultural heritage of the Channel Islands and Normandy. The involvement of a Norman artist as judge further reinforces these links, placing the exhibition within the wider European programme of events.

A longstanding fixture at Jersey Arts Centre, these exhibitions have played a central role in the island’s visual arts scene for over four decades, with the continued support of Fox International Ltd.
