French Inspired food Market

Norman Roots, Wexford Flavours

As part of the 2027 Year of the Normans celebrations, the Gorey Kilmuckridge Municipal District presents a dynamic, locally driven event series titled “Norman Roots, Wexford Flavours.” This initiative showcases North County Wexford’s outstanding food offering while celebrating its deep Norman heritage through the universal language of cuisine.

At the heart of the programme, a French-inspired food market takes place in the vibrant town of Gorey, paying tribute to its rich Norman roots and strong identity as a historic market town. The event fosters cultural exchange by welcoming French food producers from Norman-linked regions to trade in Gorey, while also providing opportunities for Wexford producers to present their products internationally.

This showcase event brings together artisan producers, French partners, Taste Wexford, live cookery demonstrations, and wine and cheese tastings.

The programme highlights this shared heritage through a French-inspired market that reflects the historic links between Wexford and Normandy. Traditional artisan producers and live cookery demonstrations, inspired by both Norman and Irish culinary traditions, connect historical legacy with contemporary food culture. Gorey’s long-standing role as a thriving market town, along with the inclusion of the Gorey Farmers Market, reinforces the strong heritage dimension of the event.
