Live the Middle Ages – Medieval Brienza

The event "Live the Middle Ages" takes place in the ancient village of Brienza, one of the few centers where the original medieval layout is still recognizable, perched between two streams at the foot of the Caracciolo Castle. The goal is not a simple historical reenactment but the reconstruction of a real medieval village, with artisan workshops, markets, court life, spirituality, dances, taverns, games, and scenes of everyday life. About two hundred participants are involved: drummers, trumpeters, nobles, armed men, archers, jesters, craftsmen, clergy, and commoners. The costumes and settings are handmade in the months leading up to the event through a collective effort of tailoring, carpentry, and blacksmithing. The event includes an exhibition of objects, medieval tools and instruments of torture, historical dances reconstructed from musical sources of the time, and the revival of ancient trades related to the processing of iron, stone, and wood. Among the new representations introduced are: the inquisitorial trial, the medieval wedding, the investiture of knights, and the wheel of exposed infants. An impromptu painting session, with the participation of young artists from outside the region, further enriches the program. Practical Information: Free For everyone Contact
