Love Through the Seasons 
1000 years of the Normans 

1000 Years of the Normans is a dynamic orchestral programme for string orchestra, violin soloist, and narrator, combining major repertoire with four newly commissioned works. It traces the Norman journey from Viking settlers to rulers, cathedral builders, and cultural shapers of medieval Europe.

From 2027 to 2028, England, Jersey, Sark, and Guernsey will together take part in Millenium – 2027, the European Year of the Normans, organised on the occasion of the 1000th anniversary of the birth of William the Conqueror, a pivotal figure in English and European history, providing the historical context for this large-scale musical project.

Featuring the English Chamber Orchestra, Celoniatus Ensemble, and the Jersey Chamber Orchestra, the concert is directed by violin soloist Harriet Mackenzie.

The programme unfolds as a musical journey across the North Sea world, exploring Norse origins and Viking expansion, Settlement in Jersey and Guernsey, The Norman presence in England and beyond, The legacy of William the Conqueror and Matilda of Flanders. 
The second part of the programme presents Love Through the Seasons, a reimagined cycle inspired by their enduring partnership, blending iconic works with new compositions.
