Reenactment

The Medieval and Falconry Days celebrate the "great Middle Ages" that, for about two centuries, saw the city of Melfi at the center of political, religious, and cultural events that took place between Europe and the Mediterranean, starting from the arrival of the Normans Altavilla at the beginning of the 11th century until the end of the Swabian dynasty in the mid-13th century.

In particular, the event is characterized by numerous reenactments from the historical period that includes the Lombard-Byzantine disputes (1018), the arrival of the Normans in Melfi (1041), the First Crusade (1099), the birth of the Southern Kingdom (1130), the Fourth Crusade (1229), and the Frederickian Constitutions (1231), with the important inclusion of elements of Falconry, a UNESCO intangible heritage, through flight displays.

The parades and reenactment scenes are enhanced by a food and wine route, cultural interventions such as temporary exhibitions, and scientific deepening through conferences and scenic setups in the village.
