Church, institutions, and society The conference will have as its main theme Medieval Mileto. The first part will be dedicated to the city of Roger I, with the establishment of the cathedral chapter, which played an important role also in the count's chancellery. Some canonicals indeed wrote bulls that testify to the foundation of the diocese on behalf of Roger I and in turn became bishops. Continuing on the theme of the diocese, there will be a discussion about the Sigillum aureum of the Count granting the fief of Sainte-Agnès to the Bishop of Mileto. Finally, a presentation on the territory and landscape will conclude the first part of the conference. A documentary exhibition dedicated to the main themes of the meeting will be set up at the diocesan historical archive. The second session will focus on the city in the post-Norman period with presentations regarding the Norman house of Sanseverino, Angevin art, and the artistic styles that would later be visible in Mileto (the works of the master of Mileto, those of Antonio from Naples, etc.), the vision of the city in the Middle Ages, and the architectural transformations that affected the Episcopate and the Cathedral.
