This landmark joint issue represents the first time Guernsey and Jersey have collaborated on a commemorative stamp release, marking a thousand years since the emergence of the Norman world. The stamps illustrate the arrival and settlement of Norman culture in the Channel Islands from the early 11th century, a formative period that established deep and lasting connections with Normandy and wider Europe.

Celebrating shared history and future connections, the issue highlights the enduring bonds between Guernsey and Jersey through collaboration, common heritage, and creativity. Through themes of migration, cultural fusion, and identity, it reflects how Norman influences continue to shape island life, whilst positioning the Channel Islands within a broader European story of exchange and connection.
