From Dieppe to Italy – a musical journey, between heritage and creation

The adult harmony orchestra of the Camille Saint-Saëns Conservatory of Dieppe presents an original musical creation that compares the paths of two important figures in Norman history: William the Conqueror, Duke of Normandy, and Roger of Hauteville, the youngest of the family, who became Count of Sicily.

The project takes the form of a concert-narrative in four parts, composed by Thierry Muller. The work is based on 11th-century melodies from the Abbey of Fécamp, found in southern Italy, to offer a musical and historical reinterpretation of these intertwined destinies.
