Lunchtime Talk Series

Year of the Normans 2027

As part of the Year of the Normans 2027, the Société Jersiaise presents a series of Lunchtime Talks exploring a wide range of topics connected to Jersey’s Norman heritage.

Open to all, these talks take place in the Society’s Members’ Room and offer an opportunity to discover fascinating aspects of Norman history, culture and legacy in an informal and welcoming setting.

Visitors are invited to arrive from 12:45 pm to enjoy tea, coffee and conversation before the start of each talk. Sessions last approximately 50 minutes and include a question-and-answer session at the end, allowing audiences to engage directly with the speaker.

Many talks are accompanied by illustrated presentations featuring images and historical sources. Speakers ensure that all references are appropriately acknowledged and that photographic credits are provided where required.

To allow a wider audience to benefit from the programme, talks are recorded and subsequently made available online through the Société Jersiaise website.

Whether you are a history enthusiast, a lifelong learner or simply curious about Jersey’s Norman connections, the Lunchtime Talks series offers a unique opportunity to explore the stories, people and places that have shaped our shared heritage.
