The French Festival 2027 Millennium Edition

A two-day medieval celebration immerses the public in the heart of the Middle Ages and offers an experience that celebrates Jersey's Norman roots. Wearing medieval-inspired costumes is encouraged to enhance the atmosphere of the event.

Program Highlights:
- The Age of Knights
The Norman association La Baronnerie St-Loise presents béhourd, a medieval-inspired combat sport practiced in armor with weapons faithfully inspired by historical models. Demonstrations, educational workshops, and sharing sessions allow participants to discover techniques and handle the equipment.

- Medieval Market
A series of stalls showcases traditional crafts and offers food inspired by the Middle Ages.
Life in the Middle Ages
A re-enactment camp illustrates medieval daily life through craft skills, cooking, costumes, and historical transmission.

Theater and Poetry
“Me, William or in the Mind of a Conqueror” by the Compagnie Div'art presents a participatory theatrical performance, between imagined autobiography and dramatic fresco, where William, approaching death, revisits his existence alongside his jester.

Readings of excerpts from the “Roman de Rou” also pay tribute to the medieval poet Wace.

- Music
The Norman group Courseval revisits contemporary songs with ancient instruments in a festive spirit. Introductory workshops are also offered.
A dedicated area for children gathers traditional Norman games, tales, and workshops on chivalry. Other activities complement the program, including a school parade and participation from local cultural actors.
