The Norman Legacy

The Norman Legacy is an exhibition presented at Jersey Library in 2027 to mark the European Year of the Normans. Drawing on the Library’s Special Collections, it explores how the story of the Normans is recorded, reinterpreted and remembered from the medieval period to the present day.

Through early printed chronicles, historical narratives and richly illustrated antiquarian works, the exhibition examines not only the Norman past itself, but also the ways in which successive generations reshape that past to serve new cultural and political purposes. Together, these works demonstrate the enduring influence of the Norman world across Britain, France and the Channel Islands.
