Wace in Jèrriais

Discover the world of Wace, Jersey’s first poet and a founding figure of Jèrriais literature, through a series of engaging readings.

These sessions bring to life selected excerpts from Wace’s celebrated 12th century works, including Roman de Rou and Roman de Brut. Originally written in Norman French, the texts are presented here in modern Jèrriais, alongside English translations, making them accessible to all.

From the story of the Dukes of Normandy and the Battle of Hastings to the legendary tales of King Arthur and the origins of Britain, these readings offer a fascinating journey through history and myth.

Monthly lunchtime sessions provide an informal opportunity to dip into Wace’s rich and vivid storytelling throughout the year of celebrations.
